Every photo you take on an iPhone can store where it was taken, plus the date, camera and settings. That metadata travels with the file when you share it. Here is how to keep your location to yourself.
Turn it off when you share
When you share a photo from the Photos app, tap Options at the top of the share sheet and turn off Location. The recipient gets the photo without its GPS position. This works per share, so check it each time you send something private.
Remove it from photos you already have
Open the photo and swipe up, or tap the info button. Next to the location, choose Adjust and remove the location. The photo stays in your library, just without its place.
Stop saving it in the first place
Go to Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Camera and choose Never. New photos are then taken without a location. You lose places in Memories and the map view, so decide what matters more to you.
Keep clean copies in a vault
PureVault has an optional Strip Media Metadata setting in its import menu. With it turned on, imported photos are saved as clean copies without EXIF and location data, encrypted on your iPhone. When you export from the vault, you can also choose between saving media with or without metadata.
