A local photo vault keeps your private photos off the cloud. That also means you move it yourself when you get a new iPhone. With PureVault this takes one encrypted file and two codes.
Before you switch: create a transfer
On your old iPhone, open PureVault’s settings and create an encrypted transfer. PureVault puts your vault items and their titles, notes and albums into one .purevault file, encrypted with your current vault passcode and a new 12-digit transfer code.
Write the transfer code down somewhere safe. It is not stored in the file, and without it the file cannot be decrypted. Don’t rely on a device backup alone; create the transfer before you reset or hand over the old iPhone.
Move the file
Share the transfer file to the new iPhone, for example with AirDrop or through the Files app. The file stays encrypted on the way, so it can travel through ordinary channels.
Import on the new iPhone
Install PureVault on the new iPhone, set up your vault and choose Import transfer file in the settings. Enter the old vault passcode and the transfer code. PureVault decrypts the items and re-encrypts them for the new device.
Good to know
Free plan: the import uses your vault slots. If the transfer holds more items than you have free, restore or unlock the one-time purchase first. PDFs also need the upgrade.
Recovery folder: a recovery export is a separate, decrypted folder. Use the encrypted transfer for moving devices.
No automatic sync: PureVault does not copy your vault between devices by itself.
